Kristi & Mike Bellis were born and raised on Vancouver Island. They met at a remote wilderness lodge where they both worked in 2004, and their earliest dates were spent fishing around the Discovery Islands. They chose to settle and build their home in Nanoose Bay as Kristi’s family history here dates back to 1883 on the land that is now Ozero Acres. In her 20’s, Kristi spent several seasons working on luxury charter yachts in the Mediterranean, which is where she learned how to provide top level service. Mike acquired his expertise over the fourteen years he spent providing peak experiences for guests at a private island resort, both as a golf pro and fishing guide.

As a member of the Haida First Nation, Captain Mike Bellis has a strong connection to the sea. He has been operating boats, fishing, and harvesting seafood around Vancouver Island and coastal BC his entire life. For 14 years, Mike lived and worked at a private fishing lodge on a remote island in Desolation Sound, where taking guests out fishing and on wildlife cruises was part of the job. His passion and enthusiasm is contagious, and it’s his goal to make sure you have a safe and unforgettable day out on the water.

Captain Mike is a Transport Canada certified vessel operator, and is trained in marine first aid.

You will spend your day on the water aboard the Haida Gold, a 30ft Mainship Pilot RumRunner II. The unique east coast style features a wide beam for stability, and a spacious covered cabin to protect you from the elements, allowing for maximum comfort. Two cushioned bench seats, a first-mate chair, and two optional fold-out chairs for the back deck ensure that everyone in your group has a comfortable seat. There is a fully enclosed bathroom in the lower cabin, a galley equipped with all the supplies you need to enjoy an on-board picnic, and a stereo to plug in your favourite playlist.

Haida Gold is a Transport Canada certified commercial vessel and is equipped with all the necessary electronics, life jackets, and safety gear to ensure a safe voyage.
